New Ritual: Non-Toxic Coffee.
I learned about mold in coffee (although research is conflicting) and became grossed out by the thought. I’d recently moved from Florida to Virginia and had been using old k-cups unpacked from the move. I sought out to find a new ground coffee and get rid of any toxins as well.
I began research for a plastic-free coffee machine and thought this was the best option, but it’s not automatic, and the options weren’t easy to decipher. I didn’t want to invest quite yet, so I looked into pour-over coffee which is the easiest way to go plastic-free.
I landed on this simple pour-over coffee vessel, which comes with a reusable stainless steel filter, and their plastic-free electric kettle. I was happy that it was a quick and easy swap, and it takes less than five minutes to make:
- Measure the amount of water to fill your preferred coffee cup – first time only!
- Pour water into the electric kettle and turn on.
- Place the reusable filter into pour-over coffee vessel.
- Scoop 1 tbsp of ground coffee per half cup of water – remember this for future reference!
- My coffee cup is 1.5 cups, so I use 3 teaspoons of ground coffee.
- I order from Purity Coffee or buy Bulletproof at the grocery store.
